After the Café Dalgona boom, in which hundreds and hundreds of blogs and websites from different origins began to write the "best recipe" to make this drink, now the focus is on Café Tonic.
It should be noted that this coffee-based drink has been consumed for decades in the United States and is one of the easiest barista recipes, so much so that any of us can make it at home.
They will tell you that there are several recipes, forms, modalities of Café Tonic, but if we limit ourselves to the basic ingredients and their volumes, we have 170 ml of tonic water, 60 ml of chilled coffee (better if it is strong) and ice cubes.
To prepare it, simply put the ice in the glass; Add the tonic (if you want to preserve the bubbles, do it with the help of a small spoon) until it occupies about two-thirds of the glass and you fill the rest with the coffee. And that's it!
Some will tell you that you can add lime juice, or a few drops of grapefruit, or 3 tablespoons of freshly squeezed orange juice, even a teaspoon of cinnamon, or a teaspoon of honey or a teaspoon of maple syrup. As you can see, there are several options but in the end, the best thing is that everyone adds what they consider appropriate or have on hand.
Here's a video developed by BA Recipes in which we are shown how simple it is to prepare our longed-for coffee tonic, or in this case, an espresso tonic. The principle is the same, only the way in which the coffee has been prepared varies since the result is similar if instead of making the coffee in an espresso machine, we do it in a drip coffee maker, an Italian moka or a French press.
